Individual capacity building. You can start anytime. The individual track runs over three months with weekly meetings of 90 minutes each. This includes individual mentorship.

The next Framework Programme for Research and Innovation — FP10 (2028–2034) will have more focus on the fact that the future of EU funding is about more than scientific excellence. The programme will be connected to Europe’s competitiveness, technology leadership and real-world impact. This funding landscape will be most accessible to those who position early, form strong consortia early or even before calls are out, have credible impact pathways, demonstrate how to contribute to European added value, and understand how to translate policy directions into relevant project concepts, partnerships and strategies for implementation.

To be part, this requires understanding the European dimension. That builds your capacity as a researcher — and positions you for funding in FP10 and for your long-term career progression.

– Positioning research within European priorities to strengthen funding applications
– Early consortium formation through network-based capacity building
– Career guidance for long-term progression
– Mentoring each other by building with peers for collaborative leadership

Graduates are invited to the European Research Dimension (ERD) Forum for exchange about future European leadership. The ERD Forum meets regularly — bringing together research professionals who are active in European research and innovation to share what is relevant for future collaborative positioning.

Capacity building by Mikael Syväjärvi who has more than 20 years of experience from international technology transfer, start-up creation and research-to-business activities. This experience forms the basis for his SME, Alminica AB, which contributes to European research projects with transfer of knowledge for impact and exploitation from research and innovation towards business and sustainability. Recent examples include the EU FET Open project SiComb (2020–2024) and the EIC Pathfinder project rePowerSiC (2024–2028). He is accepted as a mentor in the two European Innovation Council (EIC) 2026 programmes EIC Tech to Market and EIC Women Leadership. These activities support researchers and innovators in areas such as value proposition development, early-stage commercial thinking, leadership development, and strategic reflection on future opportunities arising from research and innovation.
