Level 1 – European Research Impact & Exploitation Programme
Duration: 3 Months
Develop structured competence in EU-aligned impact and exploitation strategies, including the digital transition.
This programme will:
- Integrate impact and exploitation into your research design as a structured strategy — not as an afterthought.
- Position your research to align with emerging EU frameworks such as Digital Product Passport, European Data Spaces, and measurable sustainability metrics.
- Guide how you can expand your network and build a momentum in your research area
- Build strategic visibility and network positioning within the European research ecosystem
You will develop a concrete Strategic Impact & Exploitation Position Document tailored to your research profile, supporting future proposals, career development, and EU-level competitiveness.
Completion leads to certification.
Programme Fee: €1,500
Strategic Impact & Exploitation Position Document
The programme includes three additional individual sessions dedicated to developing your personal Strategic Impact & Exploitation Position Document — a concrete, structured output tailored to your research profile.
Development happens iteratively between sessions through email exchange, with each session used for clarification, discussion, and refinement.
Session 1 — Framing: Your research, who it matters to, and why it is relevant now.
Session 2 — Positioning: EU alignment, exploitation pathways, and digital and sustainability framing specific to your research area.
Session 3 — Finalisation: Review and refinement of the draft into a document ready to support future proposals, career development, and EU-level positioning.
The Position Document is yours to keep and use beyond the programme.
Level 2 – Advanced European Research & Career Strategy Programme
Professional Career Track – 6 Months
A mentored strategic trajectory to position your research and career within European innovation ecosystems.
Includes development of a structured Strategic Research & Career Plan.
Alumni – European Research Strategy Alumni Community
Graduates of Programmes become part of a long-term professional community supporting sustained collaboration and strategic dialogue across European research and innovation ecosystems.
The training is led by Dr Mikael Syväjärvi. He has been researcher in academia 1995-2021, entrepreneurial since 2005, and active with his SME Alminica AB since 2016. Alminica AB is focussed on transfer of knowledge to create impact and exploitation towards business and sustainability. He has experience from EU projects in FP5, FP6, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, including doctoral networks. The transfer of knowledge expertize has been further developed by his activity i EU FET Open project SiComb and EIC Pathfinder project rePowerSiC. He was active 2013-2018 with smart specialisation strategy (S3) by European Commission that is focussed on regional economic growth by the entrepreneurial discovery process. Alminica was procured by Region of Östergötland for supporting the S3 development in the focus area ”Advanced Materials”. The activity of the working group led to the creation of the cluster ”Innovative Materials Arena”. He is one of the pioneers in Sweden in graphene, and was in the board of Swedish National Innovation Programme for graphene 2014-2018 representing research and start-up area. He is co-founder of GraphenSiC AB (2011) that is Europe’s first company that has full business on epitaxial graphene on silicon carbide. He has several start-ups and experience from international technology transfer. He is active with value creation from shared data and digitalization to build digital assets and sustainability assets (tokenization). He is the first in the world to tokenize (in partnership) silicon carbide semiconductor, the special purpose vehicle GlobalSiC is initiated as real world pilot. He has more then 250 research publications and is serial entrepreneur, particularly in advanced materials and deeptech. He has an investment activity ”Jovaya Investment” that supports and invests in early stage start-ups from advanced materials research for emerging technologies. In 2021 he founded a private research institute ”ICM Research Institute” that is the research division of Alminica and research partner i EU projects, and hosting researchers by visits or internships.
In detail:
Level 1 – European Research Impact & Exploitation
This is for those who want to
- get additional merits more than publishing and conference presentations
- position research and career by creating realistic impact and exploitation routes
- position to align research outcomes with the digital transition (green and digital transition)
- get benefit of creating values from data and digitalization
- understand how to actually be relevant with sustainable goals
- increase technology readiness level but the time needed is longer than the EU project duration
- build their network with other active professionals in European research
- find new partnerships for future collaborations and projects
